Wine Selection

One of the major benefits of trading through C&B is our wine selection. We aim to ensure all clients have a balanced portfolio created over time to fit your individual requirements. Introducing market strategies that are based around not only the Blue Chip wines that are the ‘back bone’ of the fine wine market, but also small production wines that have a growing global cult following.

Storage & Insurance

C&B utilises the services of London City Bond for their professional storage facilities to house our clients’ wine. The wine is stored in temperature controlled conditions and insurance is provided at current market value, ensuring the wine is kept at an optimum for resale. London City Bond has been storing products of this nature since 1870 and holds the wine accounts of a great number of very wealthy and famous wine lovers, as well as a large number of the UK’s leading merchants.

Client Liaison

A key part of the service that we offer at C&B is our portfolio management service. Your portfolio managers take a pro-active approach aiming to build a diverse portfolio along with providing you with an insight into the market. You will receive annual portfolio valuations as well as being able to keep updated on the market via our Facebook page, Twitter and our quarterly newsletter The Grapevine. For many of our clients our private tastings are the ideal way to gain knowledge as well as try some of the best wines in the world.

Sale of Wines

HMRC classifies fine wine as a ‘Wasting Chattel’ meaning it is deemed to have a shelf life of less than 50 years and as such profits are generally free of Capital Gains Tax. C&B is recognised internationally as a source of some of the most sought after wines in the world. Using our reputation as a merchant along with our strategic international trade partners we can conduct sales from our clients’ portfolios without the need to charge any sales commission or fee. The most important criterion for you to consider once your wine has been acquired at an advantageous price is for its provenance to be assured. Only wine stored professionally will attain the optimum sale price when an exit strategy is affected. Our wines are stored and insured with London City Bond (LCB), whose headquarters are in London Tilbury Docks. All our wines are transported to either LCB’s Hillington warehouse in Scotland or LCB’s Vinotheque warehouse in Burton-On-Trent. The individual attention to detail that each and every C&B client receives means that you are always aware of any relevant information pertaining to your particular products and the market in general. Recent auction results, news from the wineries, trade show information and market analysis are relayed to all clients. You will retain your own personal broker, with whom you can develop a knowledge and understanding of the market and have your individual strategy implemented to achieve your desired results.
